Projects supported in 2007/2008

The Netherlands China Arts Foundation supported a range of projects in a various cultural disciplines, from modern dance, music, heritage, puppet theatre, documentaries, to visual arts and design.

The Netherlands China Arts Foundation received an assignment of the Dutch ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs to invest in cultural relations between China and the Netherlands. Since then, it has supported a broad range of projects in both China and the Netherlands. The main focus is on projects in China, covering a broad range of cultural disciplines, from modern dance, music, heritage, puppet theatre, documentaries, to visual arts and design.

In China

Supported projects in China include: master classes of pianist Jacques Rouvier and documentary maker Pieter Fleury, selection rounds of the Liszt Piano Competition, performances of Theater Terra’s Little Donkey, and the Netherlands Dance Theatre II; festivals of modern dance in various Chinese cities; exhibitions by the National Museum van Speelklok tot Pierement, and Thonik and a coproduction by Anouk van Dijk with the Beijing Modern Dance Company.

In the Netherlands

In the Netherlands the foundation supported projects such as the exhibitions of China Now – Art in a Time of Change at the Cobra Museum and Go China! Assen – Groningen, as well as a tour of three ensembles of Chinese traditional music (Chinese Shadows) and the coproduction Chinese Heroines, a Trilogy of the Holland Festival.
