Communication design by Dutch pioneers

In a globalizing world, characterized by constant change, it is more appropriate to discuss not the quality of design, but its energy. Social Energy: Contemporary Communication Design from the Netherlands, emerged from the study on contemporary communication design from the Netherlands. The exhibition presents works from the current most important design groups in the Netherlands.

Pioneers

Social Energy features more than 300 projects from designers such as Irma Boom, Karel Martens, Lust, Mooren & van der Velden, Studio Dumbar, all pioneers in various communication design fields. Based on traditional graphic design, elements as music, sociology, media linguistics, information science, popular culture and product development, their work translates into graphic design, books, identity, installation, maps, architectural graphic, signage, stage, game, interface, video, animation and more, exemplifying the transition from graphic design to communication design in the contemporary world.

Opening by Dutch minister Ronald Plasterk

Social Energy will be openen by the Dutch minister of culture and education Ronald Plasterk, at the Beijing Today Art Museum on November 2, 2008, while Social Energy Forum 2 entitled Cultural Voice from Communication Design will be staged during the opening period. Following the 3-week exhibition in Beijing, it will proceed with its touring activities in Hongkong, Shenzhen, Shanghai and other places.
