Under the dynamic leadership of Artistic Director Anders Hellström Nederlands Dans Theater is among the most prominent and innovative contemporary dance companies world-wide. The company was founded in 1959 and is much praised for its own repertoire works by house choreographers Jiří Kylián and Lightfoot León.

The Netherlands Dance Theatre (NDT), houses two dance companies. NDT I, the ‘big’ ensemble consists of 30 dancers varying in age from 23 to 42. All of them have excellent solo qualities. These fabulous dancers and the widely varied repertoire they put on the stage attract full houses all over the world. NDT II , the ensemble for young raging talents was founded in 1978 and presently consists of sixteen dancers up to 23 years of age. Their technique is astounding, their boundless energy sets the stage alight. Started originally as an internal training class, the ensemble has grown into world class.
