The HUB is a satellite of the Theater Instituut Nederland (TIN) and the Vlaams (Flanders) Theater Instituut (VTi) in Beijing

A recent project that receive support from the foundation is the HUB. The HUB is a satellite of the Theater Instituut Nederland (TIN) and the Vlaams (Flanders) Theater Instituut (VTi). The HUB aims to connect the Dutch and Flemish theatre fields with their peers in China by offering guidance and advice, as well as coordinating long-term projects that further elaborate interaction between the Chinese, Dutch and Flemish performing arts scene.

Website online

Information on the Chinese cultural field is found on the website of the HUB. Here, also a list of artists working in China can be found.

Networking, mediation, projects

The HUB should be seen as an interface, accommodating and contextualizing new and existing projects between China, Flanders and the Netherlands, by providing them with extra visibility, guidance and contacts. Alongside this mediation function that forms HUB’s main task, the organization will also carry out a number of more specific activities. HUB will facilitate two residencies per year, whereby makers will be given an opportunity to conduct research or carry out small-scale projects in Beijing with or without cooperation from local organizations. Alongside this, HUB is devising a Theatre Mentorship Programme, in which professionals from the three countries will be brought together to discuss matters of topical interest from their field. HUB will help compile a database and library designed to improve access to information on a range of performance art landscapes. HUB will be managed by Theater in Motion in Beijing and it’s manager and sinologist Els Silvrants.
